MVCC Missionaries

Mountain View supports many missionaries that have come from within the MVCC family. We thank God that they were willing to “be the one” and go share Christ with the world.

On Mission in America—Gary and Colette Uhler and Shelby Uhler
“Our goal is to glorify God by reaching out to churches across America with encouragement through the Holy Spirit. Each church will have different needs and there is no rule book, only the Word of God, and his Holy Spirit leading us. We are to be obedient even when we are not sure of the outcome. Most of all we are to love God with all our heart, souls and minds and to love others.” –the Uhler Family.
Gary, Collette and Shelby are currently traveling the US doing outreach and volunteering at Christian and Secular Festivals. This is God’s plan for 2011. They believe God will have something different next year. For a full schedule you can email them at OnMissionInAmerica@gmail.com, check out their website at www.OnMissionInAmerica.org or check them out on facebook at On Mission In America. They currently send a newsletter to over 400 families and churches. Their number one need is for you to pray for them. The other need is financial. Their operating expenses are approximately 3,500 dollars a month and they have about 1,500.00 dollars covered. They thank you all for your love and support.

Violet works with YWAM Kona. She says, “It has been just over a month since moving my life from YWAM Maui to YWAM Kona. Whew. I am loving it so much! So thankful it is part of God’s plans for me to be here :-) God had some surprises for me when I got here, and tells me He has more… (how could I NOT be excited?!) My first surprise was being asked to join the leadership team for the Mission Builder ministry that is here. (go to www.uofnkona.edu, and search for mission builders” to get more details). As of now, there are about 90 Mission Builders that range from all ages and come from all over the world. Their purpose is to come for 1-3 months to serve the YWAM Kona base with whatever department that needs volunteers (kitchen, grounds, housekeeping, office work, etc). Since YWAM Kona is the biggest YWAM university in the world, volunteers are very welcomed to help keep the campus running.”

Jennifer Smith—
Jennifer Smith joined the YWAM staff and has been serving the many teams of young people who come through the YMAM base in Hawaii.
Jennifer is a member of the Discipleship Training School Staff (DTS Staff). This entails leading a school (DTS) for the six month program, three of which are spent in a lecture phase in Maui, and three spent leading a team to Southeast Asia on outreach. She says, “I was also privileged to co-lead a team of 15 students with two of the most genuine, caring, and FUN people I have ever met! Violet Stoltzfus, a Culpeper native, was my partner in discipling the 12 girls on our team by having one-on-one meetings with them each week, as well as grading their weekly journals, praying for them, challenging them, and walking beside them every step of the way throughout their DTS experience.” You can read more about Jennifer’s ministry in her regular newsletters by clicking on the link below.

Chris is transitioning to Crisis Response International (CRI) from Christ In Action, and is making the necessary arrangements to be in Florida to work one of their basic week-long trainings. The CRI team that is deploying to Haiti will leave right from Florida and be in-country for 10 days working with a church to provide a medical clinic, rebuild and repair buildings from the earthquake. Chris plans to move to the CRI Headquarters in South Point, Hawaii, where he will be based for this next season. Some of his first projects will be to develop a promotional video for their different types of trainings and deployments, and develop a comprehensive database of trained responders and CRI donors.
Chris says, “My heart is grateful for each one of you reading this. God continues to use you to help me do His work, and I am so thankful for your desire to partner with me. If you would like to continue your partnership, tax-deductible contributions to support my work, go to Mountain View Community Church’s online giving that will go 100% designated to me through CRI.”

Scott Minter–
Scott is serving in Thailand with a ministry called MST (Men and the Sex Trade) Project.
“My name is Scott Minter and I am living in Thailand and work with an organization called The MST Project. We talk to western men who frequent red-light districts to buy sexual services; and offer them hope of a better life, expectance, friendship, and a look at the love that God has for them. I ask for prayer, financially, and then in the areas of wisdom and clear knowledge of the message that God has for these men. I still have needs for financial support.” If you would like to contact Scott, you can use any of these avenues:
