When we put the words “But God” together, generally it’s in preparation to make an excuse for not wanting to do something God has asked us to do. “But God, I’m not smart enough.” “But God, I’m not strong enough.” But when God puts those two words together, miracles happen—the dead come to life, people are healed, and many are saved. God knows that the number one thing a spiritually dead person needs is to be MADE ALIVE. In the first ten verses of Ephesians 2, Paul describes the miraculous gift of salvation. So, what was God’s motivation for giving this gift, and what’s my response? These are two questions we will attempt to answer.
