Membership and Classes

Mountain View 101

How do I become a member?  We don’t hear about it very much from the stage; does MVCC have membership?

Yes!  We believe that church membership identifies a willingness to formally and publicly align with the mission, values, and beliefs of MVCC.   Membership moves each of us off the sidelines and into the game. It challenges us to publicly affirm a commitment to Christ and to a specific local body. It is letting church leadership know, “You can count on me.”

While it is true that everyone can participate in just about anything at MVCC, there are certain leadership responsibilities that are reserved for those who have made themselves accountable to the church through membership. Even if you are not yet ready to become a leader, you may be relieved to know that those members in leadership positions have agreed to support and to be held accountable to this ministry.

The first step in joining MVCC is to attend a MVCC 101 session.   Check our online calendar for scheduled classes; sign up by calling 540-727-0297 or  emailing  office@mountainviewcc.net  The next class MVCC 101 class will be in the fall of 2011.  Stay tuned for more information.

Discovering Spiritual Maturity 201

This class is the second of Mountain View’s three basic classes. Since these classes build on each other, you must first attend “Discovering Mountain View—Class 101” before taking this class.

What’s the focus of the class? The class will focus on four basic habits that every Christian needs to develop in order to grow to spiritual maturity. This class will equip you with the skills you need to begin these habits and will explain the tools you will need to continue these habits.

Please see the church calendar for the next available Discover Spiritual Maturity 201 class.

Discovering My Ministry 301

This class is the third of Mountain View’s three basic classes. Since these classes build on each other, you must first attend “Discovering Mountain View—Class 101” and the 201 “Discovering Spiritual Maturity” before taking this class.

What’s the Focus of the class? At MVCC, we focus on an individual approach to ministry rather than an institutional approach. An institutional approach is one centered around the church and people are just seen as resources. At MVCC, we take the exact opposite approach to ministry. We center it around people and each person’s uniqueness. We don’t force a square peg into a round hole. Our goal is not to build an institution. Our goal is to build people. We want to develop you more than we want to develop an institution. We’re going to focus on five personal factors that have combined to shape the real you. By identifying the specific traits that you possess in each of these areas, the ministry God has designed for you is going to become crystal clear. You’re going to get real excited about this class. This class could change your life.
