Our Mission

Our Mission/Purpose

We exist as a church family to be loved by God and in response, turn indifference into amazement and seeking into discovery by touching our neighbors with the love of Jesus Christ.

In the book of Acts, the power of God was displayed many times through ordinary people turning those who were adamantly opposed to Jesus, or didn’t care, into committed followers of Jesus. By the power of God’s Spirit working through us, we believe God will reveal Himself in ways that will turn the heads and the hearts of those indifferent to the Lord and cause them to ask questions. In order for this to occur, we have to be on mission with God at all times.  We have been called to join Him on a daily basis as missionaries in our workplace, our schools, and our homes.

We are seeking to live this out by becoming more effective daily at developing AUTHENTIC BIBLICAL COMMUNITY among diverse groups of people who will worship, grow, and serve God together as a family.  That’s the vision that compels the leaders of MVCC to lead as they do.

Our vision statement reads, “Mountain View Community Church is committed to building Authentic Biblical Community.”

With all the great activities and ministries we can be a part of in this world, our primary goal is to start, nurture, and multiply healthy small groups of people committed to fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ.  The people, in the context of the growing authenticity and intimacy of community, will learn how to worship the Lord both privately and publicly.  They will become like the Lord Jesus through discipleship and spiritual growth, and serve together in God’s mission. The developing of these missional communities is the primary tool  through which we are joining God on His mission in the world.

It’s our desire to be defined, not by an hour of worship and celebration on a Sunday morning, but our intentional acts of worship expressed throughout the week in practical ways within our community.  We are committed to working with churches across Culpeper to tear down the strongholds that are keeping people from experiencing the abundant and eternal life that God has for us all.
