Called to CARE

Message Notes

Acts 6:1–7 Shows how God uses ordinary believers to meet real needs in the church so the mission of the gospel can continue to grow. At MVCC, this message reminds us that every believer has a role, every gift matters, and no one is called to sit on the sidelines. When God’s people step forward in service, the church is strengthened and Jesus Christ is glorified.

The Pause Questions

1. Where might God be revealing needs around you that you have been overlooking? Are there people, ministries, or situations God keeps placing in front of you—not by accident, but as an invitation to respond?

Acts 6:1; Galatians 6:2 — “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

2. Have I mistaken my assignment for someone else’s responsibility—or avoided mine entirely? Is there a calling God has placed on your life that you’ve delayed stepping into because it feels too small, too hard, or too uncertain?

Romans 12:4–6 — “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”

3. Is prayer truly my first response, or only my backup plan?  What would change in your decisions, stress, and service if prayer became your starting point instead of your last resort?

Acts 6:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:17 — “Pray without ceasing.”

4. Am I willing to be counted among those who simply say ‘yes’ to God, even in small assignments?  Do I value visibility more than faithfulness, or am I willing to serve where no one sees?

Acts 6:5; Luke 16:10 — “Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much.”

5. What might God want to do through my obedience that I cannot yet see?  Could my simple step of obedience be part of something far bigger than my current understanding?

Acts 6:7; Ephesians 3:20 — “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…”

6. Am I contributing to unity in the body—or unintentionally weakening it?  How do my words, attitudes, and actions build up or strain the church family God has placed me in?

Ephesians 4:3; Acts 6:2–3 — “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit…”

7. Where is God inviting me to move from being a receiver to a servant? In what ways is Jesus calling me to reflect His servant heart more intentionally this week?

Mark 10:45 — “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…”
