Never a Last Resort
Message Notes
As we celebrate the hard work and dedication of our recent graduates this week, we’re reminded of the same commitment we see in those who faithfully say yes to serving at MVCC. We are so grateful for each ministry partner who gives their time and talents to make a difference! Ministry partners are truly VITAL to the church!
You’re invited to join this incredible team and be part of what God is doing here.

The Pause Questions
Question #1 — Trouble & Praise [James 5:13]
“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.”
What do my reflexes in suffering and success reveal about the true condition of my heart and my dependence on God?
When pressure, disappointment, comfort, or celebration come into my life, what do I instinctively run toward first—and why?
Question #2 — Humility & Community [James 5:14]
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church…”
What keeps me from honestly inviting others into my weakness, pain, or spiritual struggle—and what might that reveal about my pride, fear, or view of God?
What am I afraid might happen if people truly knew where I was struggling right now?
Question #3 — Faith & Surrender [James 5:15]
“The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well…”
Have I reduced prayer to a religious routine, or do I genuinely live with the expectation that God hears, cares, and is able to
intervene according to His will?
If someone quietly observed my prayer life over the last month, would they conclude that I truly believe prayer changes anything?
Question #4 — Confession & Healing [James 5:15–16]
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
Is there a hidden sin, wound, bitterness, or pattern of self-protection that is quietly keeping me spiritually sick while outwardly appearing fine? What has secrecy, silence, or self-protection been costing me spiritually, relationally, or emotionally?
Question #5 — Effective Prayer [James 5:16]
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
If the effectiveness of my prayers is connected to the direction of my daily walk with God, what changes might the Holy Spirit be calling me to make today?
Are there areas of compromise, distraction, or resistance that may be weakening my intimacy with God and my confidence in prayer?
