What is basic to the effective Christian life? The answer: Preparation. The unprepared believer becomes the defeated believer who seeks to serve the Lord in his or her own wisdom and power. The strength of the Christian life is dependence on God. Dependence requires trust and trust necessitates obedience. We either depend on His strength or lean on our own impotency. One leads to victory—the other to frustration and defeat.
